*The students will identify where the mountain men started their journey west from.

*The students will understand the reasons the mountain men went west and why they stopped trapping.

*The students will be able to name three mountain men.

*The students will be able to explain that silk replaced beaver as a fashion trend.

*The students will learn that explorers and mountain men made maps.

*The students will understand that the early explorers mapped by landmarks

*The students will produce a landmark map of their own.

*The students will see how a mountain man dresses

*The students will learn what is put in a possibles bag.

*The students will learn how a beaver is trapped.

*The students will learn how a flintlock rifle is shot.

*Students will research about a specific mountain man.

*The students will find pictures of their explorer

*The students will create a picture of their explorer.

*The students will know the birth and death date of their explorer.

*The students will map where the explorer has been.

*The students will share two interesting stories about their explorer to the class.

*The students will share the discoveries their explorer is best known for.

*The students will know some other personal information about their explorer.

*The students will display all of the above information on a bulletin board.
