Fitness and its Different Components

Introduction:

Obesity in America is on the rise. We need to be better educated about the components of fitness, so we can improve our own health and bring obesity rates down. Knowledge of the different components of fitness will help us to better understand ourselves and what can be done to change the obesity of America.

Task:

We are going to work on this obesity problem by educating ourselves about the different components of fitness. After we have educated ourselves, we will take the knowledge that we have learned and make up a personal fitness program.

Process:

Step 1: Use these questions and websites to help educate yourself about fitness components.

1. How do you determine your target heart rate?

2. What does your percent body fat (body composition) mean?

3. How much water should a person drink per day?

4. What is aerobic activity?

5. What is anaerobic activity?

6. How does stress and sleep affect health?

Step 2: Use the knowledge that you have gained and these other websites to make up a personal fitness program involving both anaerobic activity and aerobic activity.

The fitness program needs to have:

1. What day you will do what?

2. How much time will be involved in each activity?

3. Which exercises will be done and if they are aerobic or anaerobic.

4. Goals of your fitness program.

Step 3: Write up your fitness program. Your program should start out with three fitness goals that you have set for your self. It should than have your plan of how you are going to achieve these goals by making up a week fitness program. The program should have the day of the week, the type of activity you will be doing, whether it is aerobic or anaerobic activity, and how long you will do each activity. Then turn this paper in to the teacher.

Conclusion:

You have learned, throughout this process, about the importance of personal fitness to a healthy and productive lifestyle. The question is, have you learned enough to see the importance to you in your life? I hope the answer is "yes." While there are many alternative paths to take in life, few offer the true personal rewards that personal fitness can. Activity helps you to deal better with stress and enjoy better health during your lifetime. Physical fitness also allows you to continually set new goals and push yourself to reach them. Nothing is more satisfying than proving something to yourself, that you weren't sure you could achieve.
