Introduction

Get ready to travel! You are going to a Spanish speaking country!
There are 21 countries you can choose from!
Decide where you would like to visit, and have lots of fun on your "vacation" via the Internet.
When you return, you will create a travel brochure to convince others to go there too!

Task

You will discover new information about your selected country as you research the following topics:

Location and Geography

Money and Exchange Rates

Tourist Attractions / Places of Interest

Food

Customs

Travel Do's and Don'ts

Survival Phrases in Spanish

Activities and Fun

Culture

Find five to seven facts or pieces of information for each topic listed.
Look for pictures that are related to these topics; you will need one picture for each topic.
When you return, you will create a travel brochure on the country you visited.
You will present the travel brochure to the class.

Process

Step One: Decide which country you want to travel to.

Step Two: Research the suggested topics. Take notes and record your sources!

Step Three: Find pictures, travel hints, and highlights from that country.

Step Four: Follow the guidelines in the evaluation section.

Step Five: Create a travel brochure using the research and pictures.

Step Five: Present your travel brochure to the class.

Learning Advice

You will be doing a lot of research on the country you choose; be sure to choose a country you are interested in!

Read the guidelines and understand the expectations in the evaluation section before you begin your travel brochure.

Remember to take notes on your research, and document your sources for both research and pictures.

Your travel brochure should be typed and formatted on the computer. It must include pictures.

Your travel brochure should be informative, interesting, well-researched, organized, and neat.

Have fun, do your best, and enjoy learning about a new country!

Evaluation

Spanish WebQuest Checklist:

I researched ONE country for this project.

I have AT LEAST five facts for every research topic suggested in the task section, for a minimum of 45 pieces of information.

I have one picture for each of the nine research topics.

I have enough information and pictures to create a four page travel brochure.

I have read the Spanish WebQuest Rubric and know what is expected for the travel brochure.

My travel brochure has been proofread by at least two peers.

My travel brochure is typed, spelled correctly, organized, neat, and professional.

I know enough information about the country to present my brochure to the class.

 

Spanish WebQuest Rubric: (Total Points Possible: 100)

Knowledge Gained: (20 points)

Brochure is informative and displays a knowledge of the researched material. Students will have five facts for every research topic.

 

Attractiveness & Organization: (10 points)

Brochure is typed, neat, and professional. It has attractive formatting and well-organized information.

 

Content & Accuracy: (10 points)

All facts in the brochure are accurate. Facts are presented thoroughly and logically.

 

Graphics: (10 points)

Graphics go well with the text, and there is a good mix of text and graphics. There are not so many graphics that they distract from the text. There are not too few graphics, so that the brochure becomes "text-heavy."

 

Sources: (10 points)

Records are kept to document the sources of the facts and graphics in the brochure.

 

Writing - Grammar: (15 points)

There are no grammatical mistakes or spelling errors in the brochure. Capitalization and punctuation are correct throughout the brochure.

 

Writing - Organization: (15 points)

Each section in the brochure has a clear beginning, middle, and end. The brochure is understandable and coherent.

 

Presentation of Brochure: (10 points)

Students will be able to answer accurately questions related to facts in the brochure and to technical processes used to create the brochure.

Your travel brochure has helped you organize information, learn research techniques, and improve your writing skills.
You have also learned more about technology, the Internet, and the Spanish language!
