PROCESS
  1. Choose a mathematician you are interested in learning about. (Make sure you aren’t choosing a mathematician that has already been chosen by other committee members).
  2. Review your decision with the teacher before you start your research.
  3. Use the 2 days allotted for research days to visit the resources provided and any others you find on your own.  Choose at least 2 sources you plan on using to get information from.
  4. Take notes and jot down information from sources that you plan on using. (Keep track of where the information comes from so you can site the source)
  5. Compile your information together to write a two-page report about your mathematician.  (Hint:  Look at the report requirements under “Learning Advice” to ensure you do everything required)
  6. On the designated day (TBA) turn in a rough draft of your report.  I will give you feed back of how you are doing.
  7. Make any necessary changes in order to complete your report.
  8. Design a “baseball” style card including a picture and information about your mathematician.  First compile a rough sketch of what you want your card to look like and the information you plan on including on your card.  (Hint: Look at the baseball card requirements under “Learning Advice” to ensure you do everything required)
  9. Have a classmate look over the rough draft of your card to make sure you have met all of the requirements.
  10. Complete the final baseball card.
  11. On the designated day (TBA), present your mathematician to the math committee.  You will be required to show your baseball card and give a short presentation without reading the information straight from your report.
  12. Along with the other members of the math committee, participate in creating a “Math Hall of Fame”.  The “Hall of Fame” will be displayed in the classroom.
