The spiral galaxy M100 is shown here in pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope both before its first servicing mission and after the servicing mission. The telescope's primary mirror does not have the correct shape, but during the first servicing mission, astronauts installed a special system called COSTAR which corrects the distortion caused by the misshapen mirror.
