This picture of Uranus was taken by the Voyager 2 spacecraft as it flew by the planet in 1986. The blue color comes from methane in Uranus' atmosphere absorbing red and orange from the sunlight, so only blue remains. Haze in Uranus' upper atmosphere gives the planet a very bland appearance.
