READING COMMUNITY MAPS Ø Students will be able to
understand the progression of maps from their earliest forms
to what they have become today. Ø Students will be able to
describe how placement and location are important for
community structure and utilizing natural
resources. Ø Students will be able to
name and locate the major global dividing lines: 180th
meridian, prime meridian, equator, eatern and western
hemispheres. Ø Students will be able to
identify and use correctly grids, keys and
symbols. Ø Students wic">Ø Students will be able to
understand boundaries: people-drawn and natural. Ø Students will be able to
name the cardinal directions and the order they must be
in. BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE

tell why the location of certain community buildings and
structures can be crucial for safety and
convenience. Ø Students will be able to
relate to other communities while understanding the aspects

compare and contrast their communities climate and weather

understand empathatically the importance of helping and
befriending new members into the community. Ø Students will be able to
know some of the contributions of individual and team
